My Daughter wanted a zebra cake with hot pink bows for her birthday, my first thought was to make them out of fondant, but that stuff doesn't taste that great. then I thought maybe I would make them out of pulled sugar or sugar ribbons, it would taste good but it seemed like quite a bit of work. Then just a couple days before the party we were snacking on some fruit by the foot and I realized that it would make the perfect medium for bows! It was super simple here are the step by step instructions with pics!
They come in lots of colors, I'm sure that the store brand or any other will work too. For a smallish/medium bow I used about 6-7 inches, I just guessed by the size I wanted my loops.
You then fold the fruit roll over on itself to make this nifty little shape.
Next you fold down the top triangle to give your bow a nice shape. The last step is to pinch the loops and the tails together to make it a cute little bow ;-)
I wish that I had taken a picture of the tray of bows I made. It took me a little over an hour to make 40, and they were a big hit!
